The Center has notified new criteria for appointment of directors of Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), making it mandatory for applicants to have a first-class degree in both bachelor’s and master’s as well as a PhD or equivalent from a reputed institute. . In addition, the President will now be the “Visitor” of the prestigious B-schools, with the power to appoint the Chairman of the Board of Governors, appoint and remove directors and dissolve the Board for non-performance of duties or non-compliance with the directions of the Visitor.
