According to various reports, India’s first agricultural university is Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. Which is also called “Pantnagar University” and “Pant University”. It was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru on 17 November 1960. Then it was called Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University. In the year 1972, the University of Agriculture and Technology was changed to Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in the name of the great freedom fighter Govind Ballabh Pant. This university is located in Pantnagar town of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. This university is considered the pioneer of Green Revolution in the country.
