Students of all universities and colleges will take oath on unity, integrity and security of the country on 31st October. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to celebrate National Unity Day on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Under this, students in universities and higher educational institutions will take oath for the unity, integrity and security of the country on National Unity Day.

On Thursday, on behalf of UGC Secretary Professor Manish Joshi, a letter was written to all the universities and education departments of the states. It was written that National Unity Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, hence special programs will be organized on this day in all universities and higher educational institutions. First of all the oath taking program will be organised. In this the students will take oath of unity, integrity and security. Students can take the oath in Hindi, English or even the regional language. After that other programs will be organized. Universities will also have to prepare its report, which they will have to upload on their websites including that of UGC.
