National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET PG 2022 postponed date has now been scheduled for May 21, 2022. Since the matter is for hearing in the Supreme Court from February 4, the hearing of the Supreme Court will resume today on February 8, 2022. The main issue of postponing the exam is resolved but other issues like change in internship deadline are still pending.
NEET PG 2022 postponement announcement was made by the Union Health Ministry on February 4, 2022, when the matter was up for hearing in the Supreme Court. Providing some relief to the students, the application deadline for this exam was also extended till March 25 as per the new schedule released by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
Earlier, the matter was taken up by a bench headed by Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant. While the issue was listed as item number 38 that day, it came up late in the afternoon, and yet, it was adjourned for hearing today. As per the previous reports, the hearing is expected to begin by 2 pm.
So far, the petitioners have pointed out that even postponing the NEET PG 2022 exam by 8 weeks is not enough. Hence, they have sought a solution regarding the difference in internship completion and exam dates.
NEET PG 2022 case in SC is now considering revision of internship deadline. As of now, the internship deadline has been set as May 31, 2022. In this regard, the petitioners have argued that since they were front line workers and engaged in performing COVID duty, their internship has been postponed. Therefore, the petitioners are seeking relief on this so that the candidates who have not been able to complete their internship within the time limit can also be accommodated.
