Gunjan was an IPS officer’s daughter with her sister also working as a Civil Servant. This was the reason she got an environment amicable to study for the UPSC exam. She completed her graduation in 2014 and began her preparation for UPSC CSE. At the time of her selection, Ginjan told the media, “My father is a retired IPS officer; he was my childhood role model. My mother and brother made sure I stayed happy no matter what. My sister is placed as a Commercial Tax Officer in Saharanpur, UP.”
Gunjan belongs to Lucknow. Her scores were always sky high since her childhood. She scored 93.5% in 10th and 87.6% in 12th standard. She graduated from Daulat Ram College, DU in Political Science which also happened to be her optional.
IAS Gunjan Dwivedi: Failure in Prelims Twice
Gunjan prepared for CSE in 2014 and sat for her first Civil Services Exam only to fail in the prelims. She could not pass even in her second attempt. She however did not lose patience and kept on working hard.
She targeted the NCERT books and studied one book per subjet and related on revision time and again. She succeeded in her 3rd attempt and 5th year of preparation. Gunjan secured 9th rank in her attempt in 2018 and became one of the UPSC Toppers.
Gunjan’s advice to all the aspirants is to remain true to themselves, prepare with complete honesty and remain 1005 focused on their goal. Gunjan’s strategy included studying for Mains (Optionals) only till December and then only focusing on the prelims exam.
She targeted a minimum of 5 revisions before the exam so that her static and current both are prepared fully before she sat for her exam. She went through NCERTs from class 6th-12th but focussed mainly on the 11th and 12th NCERTs. She solved mock tests religiously as well.
Gunjan’s strategy is helpful to everyone who is attempting CSE 2022 Prelims on June 5. Check out more such success stories to get inspired here.
