MBBS, PG Fees: Fees on half the seats in private medical colleges will be equal to the fees of government medical colleges, while the fees for the remaining 50 percent seats will be determined on the basis of actual cost. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has made this rule for medical colleges from the new session. Orders in this regard have been issued on Thursday.
Under the NMC Act-2019, the government has been empowered to fix the fees for 50 MBBS and PG seats in all private medical colleges and deemed universities. Fees equal to the fees of government medical colleges located in the state will be fixed for 50 percent seats in private medical colleges. In these 50 seats, those students will get admission, who have got seats under the government quota. MBBS and PG seats in the country are close to 1.25 lakh, of which close to 60 percent are in the private sector. Thousands will get benefit from this decision.
Will not charge capitation fee
No college will be allowed to charge capitation fee. Fees can be fixed for one year or maximum three years. An increase of five per cent can be made every year. Hostel, library, mess fees will also be decided on the basis of actual expenditure.
Annual account will be the basis
It has been said in the order that the fee for the remaining seats will be decided by the fee fixation committee of the state on the basis of actual cost. In this, the annual account of the previous year of the medical college or deemed university will be made the basis.
