NEET-PG Exam 2022 will now be conducted on May 21. The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) gave this information on Friday. Actually, the exam was earlier to be held on March 12, but now its dates have been extended. In the notice issued by NBEMS, it has been said that the NEET-PG exam 2022 will now be held on May 21 from 9 am to 12.30 pm. The notice further states that the last date to apply was earlier February 4, but now it has also been extended to March 25. This means that students can apply for NEET-PG exam till March 25.
Earlier, the central government had asked the National Board of Examination (NBE), the conducting agency of this exam, to push it forward by at least two months. Actually, the counseling process of NEET PG 2021 is going on right now, which will continue till March 16. Meanwhile, medical students were surprised by the announcement of NEET PG 2022 exam to be conducted on March 12. Because, due to Corona, the examinations and internship programs of MBBS students are getting delayed. Therefore thousands of students will not get a chance to appear in NEET-PG 2022. In this case, six MBBS graduates had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on January 25, seeking the postponement of the examination. Along with this, letters were also written to the ministry.
According to Health Ministry sources, Dr. B. Srinivas, Assistant Director General (Medical Education) and Member Secretary, Medical Advisory Committee, in a letter sent to Dr. M. Bajpai, Executive Director, NBE, said that many doctors have taken the NEET-PG 2022 exam. It is requested to postpone, because the counseling of NEET PG 2021 is also to be held during this time. Those whose internship is being completed in May-June, they will not be able to participate in it. Therefore, it has been asked to move forward by six to eight weeks.
Medical students also say that there should be a gap of one year between two batches of PG in medical colleges. Only then will senior students be able to teach junior students. But, if the NEET PG exam is held on March 12, there will be a gap of only two months between the batches of 2021 and 2022. In such a situation, hospitals will also find it difficult to accommodate students. This may affect the process of training.
