Hearing in Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is hearing a petition seeking postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG) Examination 2022 (NEET PG 2022) on February 4 today. However, earlier the petition was to be heard on February 7. The petition to postpone the medical entrance exam was filed on January 25.
Why students want to postpone NEET PG 2022 exam
Admission Test in Medical Post Graduate Program i.e. NEET 2022 exam is scheduled to be held on 12th March at various exam centres. But the group of students says that their mandatory internship period was not completed due to duty in Kovid-19. Due to which hundreds of students will be debarred from appearing in this examination. The students are demanding that the examination to be held on March 12 should be postponed till then. until their internship is over. They want to get at least May 31, 2022 to complete the internship. Further, the petition filed by some of the NEET aspirants has argued that the schedule for NEET-PG 2022-23 is clashing with the counseling schedule of NEET-PG 2021-22 and hence it is necessary for the candidates to move from the year 2021 to NEET-PG 2022- 23. refuses to attend.
PM Modi’s statement cited
The petition has cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on May 3 last year to postpone NEET-PG 2021 by at least four months and the duty of final year MBBS doctors to handle COVID cases. The petition has challenged the condition given in the Information Bulletin which provides a deadline of May 31, 2022 for completing the internship.
