CPIM MP Dr V Sivadasan had informed in the Upper House that according to the Department of Expenditure, 21,255 Group A jobs and 7,56,146 Group C jobs were vacant in various departments of the Center as of March 1, 2020.
Not a single post of Group D is vacant
In his written reply, Union Minister Jitendra Singh further said that following the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, the government had brought all Group D jobs under Group C. Because of this there is no Group D post in Central Government Departments. The government has given orders to all the departments to recruit these posts.
485 vacancies in UPSC
The Union Minister informed that at present a total of 485 posts are vacant in the Union Public Service Commission. Of these 45 posts of Group A, 240 of Group B and 200 of Group C are vacant. Union Public Service Commission recruits IAS, IPS and IFS posts every year.
More than 8 lakh posts vacant as on 1st March 2020
According to the Union Minister, till March 1, 2019, a total of 9,10,153 posts were vacant in the departments of the Central Government. As of March 1, 2018, their number was 6,83,823. At the same time, the total number of vacancies as on March 1, 2020 was 8,72,243. The government’s recruitment agency SSC, UPSC and RRB recruited 2,65,468 posts during the year 2018-19 and 2020-21.
