Street scraping project launched in Delhi
For the reconstruction and beautification of the roads, the Delhi government has started the street scraping project. Under this, about 540 km of roads in Delhi will be beautified. For this, the Public Welfare Department has appointed 9 consultants, who will advise on the construction of roads. These consultants will analyze the data to study the traffic pattern and formulate its solution. The main objective of starting this project is to reduce the number of fatal accidents taking place in the national capital. Under this, roads in the capital will be redeveloped on the basis of European standards. Primarily, the project will balance the roads for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
Neeraj Chopra appointed brand ambassador of Good Dot
Olympian Neeraj Chopra has recently become the brand ambassador of plant-based meat company ‘Gooddot’. The company creates awareness about a new category of plant-based meats through this. This company offers plant based mutton, chicken and egg substitutes. Plant meat is completely vegetarian and only plants are used to make it. They are considered more beneficial than normal meat. It is made under the special supervision of experts. It is much better for the environment than normal meat.
‘Saab’ to supply anti-armor weapons to the Indian Armed Forces
Swedish defense company ‘Saab Bofors Dynamics’ has been selected by the Indian Armed Forces for the supply of single-shot anti-armor weapon AT4. Now AT4 will be used by Indian Army and Indian Air Force. Saab’s Karl-Gustaf system is already in use by the Indian Armed Forces.
International Cricket Council announces ICC Awards 2021
Recently the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the winners of the 17th edition of the awards for the year 2021. This award is given to honor the players for their best performance in a year especially for their respective national side. This time only one Indian cricketer has been selected in these awards. Indian women’s team player Smriti Mandhana has been voted ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for the second time.
Government will start Online Storage Management (OSM)
The Central Government is going to launch “Online Storage Management” to bring efficiency in the storage, handling and distribution of food grains under the Public Distribution System (TPDS). It will start from April 1, 2022. The objective is to reduce manipulation activities between godowns and fair price shops by transport contractors. This system will track the grain stock from the procurement points to the PDS distribution outlets.
Joint maritime exercise ‘Paschim Lehar’ organized
A joint maritime exercise ‘Paschim Lehar (XPL-2022)’ conducted by the Indian Navy recently concluded off the west coast. The 20-day long exercise was conducted with an aim to strengthen the operational plans of the Western Naval Command and enhance inter-service synergy between the three Services of India and the Coast Guard. The engagement and participation of more than 40 ships and submarines of the Indian Navy has been recorded in this intra-theatre exercise.
Neeraj Chopra received Param Vishisht Seva Medal
Neeraj Chopra, who won the country’s first athletic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, was recently awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. He did this feat by throwing a javelin up to 87.58 meters. Neeraj Chopra is a Naib Subedar Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army. The Param Vishisht Seva Medal was instituted in the year 1960. It is equivalent to the best Yudh Seva Medal. It is given for services in peacetime. Only legally constituted Armed Forces, Territorial Army, Reserve Forces, Auxiliary and Nursing officers are eligible for this award.
Digital Parliament App launched
Recently, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has launched the “Digital Parliament” app for information on Parliament’s actions and statistics. This app will give complete information to the people about the proceedings of Parliament and their MPs. This app is made available on both Android and iOS platforms. This app provides 360-degree view of legislative activities and services to the members. It will also help people to access archival data related to all Lok Sabha, apart from proceedings in the House which is currently underway. This app contains information about the budget speeches since the year 1947 as well as the discussions of the House from 12th Lok Sabha to 17th Lok Sabha. Also provides live telecast of the proceedings of the Parliament.

India’s first Graphene Innovation Center set up
The country’s first Graphene Innovation Center will be set up in Kerala. The central government has allocated Rs 86.41 crore for this project. It is being built in partnership with Tata Steel with the support of the Central Government and the Government of Kerala. Graphene is used to make tennis rackets. In addition, graphene is used in the manufacture of composite materials, biological engineering, energy storage and filtration. Graphene is considered the strongest material in the world.
India’s largest EV charging station set up in Gurugram
India’s largest Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station has been set up in Gurugram (on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway). 100 charging points have been installed at this charging station. With the help of 72 units AC slow charger and 24 units DC fast charger, 100 cars can be charged here simultaneously. This new EV charging station set up in Gurugram has been developed by tech-piloting company ‘Electrify Pvt Ltd’.
1st India-Central Asia Virtual Summit
Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hosted the first India-Central Asia Summit. The summit was organized through a virtual platform. The Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the summit.
Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation launched
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation on the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of Pandit Jasraj, the late classical singer of India. Pandit Jasraj’s son Sharang Dev Pandit and his daughter Durga Jasraj have established ‘Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation’. It has been started with the aim of protecting, preserving, developing and promoting the national heritage, art and culture of India. Pandit Jasraj belonged to the Mewati Gharana.
